About us
The Furbelows are a south London five-piece formed in 2007. Influences include booze, bullying and a classical education. The songs tend to revolve around disease, apocalypse, drugs, hedonism, Nazis and transvestism. Lead singer Alex doesn't actually appear on stage in drag as much as he used to though he hasn't calmed down in any other respect.
The music is a strange mix of blues, rock, folk, dub and cabaret. It's been described as "the illegitimate offspring of Nick Cave and the Divine Comedy" but also as "a cross between the Kings of Leon and early Pink Floyd".
French radio show Kerosene by KFUEL on station CanalB, upon airing the demo of Pleasure Machine, said: "Très bonne découverte pour ce combo anglais qui oscille entre garage, the Fall et excellence...On attends la suite de leurs aventures avec impatience." (Roughly translated, "Very good debut for this English combo who oscillate between garage, The Fall and excellence. We await the continuation of their adventures with impatience."
