About us


Steel Tormentor were founded in 1996 by Guitarist & vocalist James Kelly. The idea behind the band was to play music in the vein of the early 80's metal bands of the NWOBHM movement.

It wasn't till early 2004 James found a line up stable enough to record the debut 10 track album "Unleashed".He was joined for the recording process on drums by Seanie Walsh & bass guitar by Paul Newell the album was recorded over a 10 week period in steel studios Co.Mayo Ireland.

The cd got such a great response when it was released a giging line up was put together to help promote it.In came original member John Hanly on bass Norman Rafter on guitar & Paul Donnellan on drums.With this line up the band has toured the Uk played the bloodstock metal festival also Up the hammers festival in Athens Greece.Along the way supported bands like Saxon & are currently working on a new album due for release in 2007.
