2007 saw the birth of a new frock band (funk/rock) challenging the unsigned music scene with a hungry and feisty determination to dominate the circuit.

Introducing Short Skirtz

By June they had completed a four track EP, had a series of successful gigs at venues such as Hope & Anchor in Islington, Barfly in Camden, Jrink in Soho to name a few and had been played on mainstream radio stations.

Throughout 2007 the band continued to gig, write and work hard in order to be a stand out band. They have received numerous positive reviews linking them to bands such as the Chili Peppers, No Doubt, Blondie and Hole.


Macca has been performing on stage since the age of 12. She has worked as a professional singer since the age of 16 singing for numerous bands and working as both a backing vocalist and session singer.

Dave, a self taught bassist, influenced by the styles of Flea (red hot chilli peppers) but blending with his own unique style of smooth grooving, power thumping string slapping sleazy funk.

Mitch, the skin beater, was considered a standout drummer from the early age of 5, a former student of drumtech, a solid, versatile and creative drummer with numerous live and recording experiences.

Dre, originally joined the band as the drummer switched to keys and gave the band a fuller sound. Plays most intruments and has a host of solo albums to show off his talent

The band also has 17 cats, 1 snake and a tortoise between them!

In February 2008, the radio station XFM approached Short Skirtz to record material for a competition they were running. You may also have heard Macca singing on a recent Slim Fast TV advert.

The band has many influences, some you hear in their music, and others you don't. Here is a sample list of what they like to listen too, past and present... Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Dave Mathews Band, Short skirtZ, Paramore, Pink, Ugly Kid Joe, Hole, No Doubt, The Offsrping, Green Day, G'n'R, Incubus, Maroon 5, Nickleback, Mika, Pearl Jam, Nirvana... this list goes on.
