About us
Kuai Zi were formed out of necessity from the Beijing live music scene in 2003. Front man Skott Taylor and lead guitarist Mike/Noah met while living in China and have since been playing their unique style of Blues Rock Hip Hop across the world.
Upon arriving in London Skott and Mike/Noah set out to establish themselves on the London Open Mic circuit, playing as much and as often as they could in the hope of meeting any potential new band mates. In time they met up with an old Beijing friend, Gilo “DJ DMT” Cheney (Hong Kong S.A.R.) who was more than happy to throw down some bass lines and fill out the sound. Through Gilo, Ric (Edinburgh, Scotland) Nash was introduced and the final piece to the Kuai Zi puzzle was found.
They have been compared to the likes of Jack Johnson, Weezer, Beck and Dave Matthews Band retaining an original style.
Drawing heavily on their live performance based foundation, Kuai Zi delivers a high-energy show that ticks all the boxes and keeps the crowd on its feet.
What up Kuai Zi Krew!
Just droppin a little science on the 411 to keep you all in the know!
FRIDAY NOVEMBER 11th – BBC Radio Shropshire’s Friday Night Gerbil
We’re playing a LIVE SET on BBC Shropshire’s Friday Night Gerbil show from 7:00 to 9:00pm. Be sure to tune in manually or via their website where you can listen live or, if you miss it, after the show. There’s two boxes to the right that say “Listen Live” or “Listen Again”… Choose wisely.
SATURDAY DECEMBER 1st – The Bird in Hand Pub
Kuai Zi kicks off the festive month with a gig in Shrewsbury at THE BIRD IN HAND. This fine pub saved our asses last time we visited the Shropshire after our gig at the chumpy Butter Market fell through. In return we’re returning with fresh new tunes and a whole night to rawk it fresh off our radio show the previous night on BBC Shropshre. Come out and support, if you can, and get on down with your bad self!
WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 19th – Monto Water Rats
We’ve got tickets!! Get ‘em while they’re hot… and cheap ;) Kuai Zi’s supporting Island Record’s PROXY and EMI’s THE CORRECTIONS. Also on the bill are Inbetween Days, The Self and Alex Vargas so you’ll definitely get your pounds worth. Tickets from us are £5, at the door… something like £8, the choice is clear I think.
In other news, we’ve completed a brand spanking new EP recorded at The Way Studio with producer Luke Butterly, here in London. Now it’s off to get mastered, so it can break your bedroom windows, then straight into your hands. Watch for the launch of our website (finally!) too along with the EP’s launch…
Now you’re in the 411
